Overview

Binance is, without exaggeration, the most influential cryptocurrency exchange in the world. Founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao, it has grown to serve over 300 million users across more than 180 countries, processing nearly half of all centralized exchange spot volume globally. For active traders looking for deep liquidity, low fees, and a full suite of trading products, Binance is hard to beat.

Following its $4.3 billion settlement with US authorities in 2023, the platform has spent the last two years overhauling its compliance infrastructure. Under CEO Richard Teng, Binance now holds licenses in 18+ jurisdictions including the EU, UAE, Japan, and Brazil. The result is a platform that combines the breadth of an old-school crypto exchange with the regulatory posture of a modern financial institution.

Fees

Binance’s fee structure is among the most competitive in the industry. Spot trading starts at a flat 0.10% for both makers and takers, which already undercuts most major competitors. Hold BNB (Binance’s native token) in your account and pay fees in BNB, and you get a further 25% discount — bringing the effective rate down to 0.075%.

Futures trading is even cheaper, with maker fees as low as 0.02% and taker fees at 0.05% on the standard tier. VIP volume tiers can take fees down to near-zero. There are no deposit fees for crypto, and withdrawal fees vary by coin but are reasonable for major assets.

The one place fees climb is instant buy/sell through the “Convert” interface, where spreads of 0.1%–0.5% above mid-market are typical. We recommend using the advanced trading screen with limit orders for any meaningful purchase.

Security

Binance has weathered some of the largest attacks in crypto history and emerged stronger for it. The platform maintains the SAFU (Secure Asset Fund for Users) — a $1 billion+ insurance reserve funded from trading fees that has been used to fully compensate users in past incidents. Cold storage holds the majority of customer funds, with multi-signature wallets and hardware security modules protecting hot wallets.

Account-level security includes two-factor authentication, anti-phishing codes, withdrawal address whitelisting, and device management. The platform also offers a comprehensive bug bounty programme and undergoes regular third-party audits.

Supported Assets

This is where Binance genuinely has no equal. The exchange supports over 500 cryptocurrencies and 1,400+ trading pairs, including every major coin, virtually every notable altcoin, and a deep selection of new and emerging tokens through its Launchpad and Launchpool programmes. Stablecoin coverage is comprehensive (USDT, USDC, FDUSD, DAI, and others), and Binance was the first major exchange to list dozens of trending tokens.

For fiat, Binance supports over 50 currencies for direct deposit and 110+ via P2P trading, making it one of the most accessible exchanges for international users.

Trading Experience

Binance offers four tiers of interface complexity. The “Lite” view is clean and beginner-friendly. The standard “Pro” view gives you professional-grade charting, full order book depth, and conditional order types. There are also dedicated interfaces for futures (up to 125x leverage), options, copy trading, and trading bots — including grid bots, DCA bots, and arbitrage bots that run automatically.

Mobile apps are excellent on both iOS and Android, and the platform supports API access for algorithmic traders. Liquidity is exceptional across the board — slippage on major pairs is typically near zero, and even mid-cap altcoins maintain reasonable depth.

Customer Support

Support is available 24/7 via live chat in 20+ languages. Response times have historically been a weak point, but improvements in 2024 and 2025 have brought average wait times down to under 10 minutes for verified users. The help centre is comprehensive, and the Binance Academy is one of the best free crypto education resources online.

Who Should Use Binance

Binance is the strongest all-round choice for traders who live in a supported jurisdiction and want maximum flexibility. It is particularly well-suited to:

  • Active spot traders who value liquidity and low fees
  • Derivatives traders wanting deep futures and options markets
  • Altcoin investors looking for early access to new listings
  • Yield-seekers wanting integrated staking and earn products

It is not the right choice for US residents (who must use Binance.US, a different and more limited entity), Canadian residents, or beginners who want a simple buy-and-hold experience — Coinbase or Kraken serve those needs better.

Verdict

Binance remains the benchmark against which every other exchange is measured. Its combination of liquidity, asset selection, fee structure, and product depth is unmatched. Regulatory clouds that hung over the company in 2022–2023 have largely cleared, and the platform is now operating under a far more compliant footing.

For active international traders, Binance should be at the top of your shortlist.
